Infection Control Training is a mandated training program for any employee, self-employed person, or safety representative who may be exposed to blood or other body fluids. This course is available online or from one of our approved instructors.
It is designed to meet the requirements and recommendations of the HSE, NHS and the medical professionals. infection control training is required in other industries outside the medical world.
This course comes with 3.0 hrs (4.0 class) of CPD, although the time to complete the course online may be less than this. Total course time includes 2 hours and 16 minutes of video training as well as knowledge reviews, final test, remedial help and reviewing downloaded material.
The content of this and all our courses has been independently certified as conforming to universally accepted Continuous Professional Development (CPD) guidelines and come with a Certified CPD Statement as well as a ProTrainings Certificate and for online courses an Evidence Based Learning statement.

LO 1.1 - Define what is meant by infection prevention and control.
LO 1.2 - Explain the importance of infection control within a healthcare setting
LO 1.3 - Describe the impact of infection control on service users, employees and the setting as a whole
2 Describe how regulations inform policy and practice relating to infection control
LO 2.1 - Outline the current Legislation, Codes of Practice, Standards and Guidelines in relation to infection control
LO 2.2 - Explain the role of Public Health England in relation to infection control.
LO 2.3 - Describe workplace policies and procedures to prevent the spread of infection.
3 Understanding the standard principles for preventing and controlling infection.
LO 3.1 - List standard infection control procedures
LO 3.2 - List the types of equipment used to implement standard precautions
LO 3.3 - Describe techniques for hand washing, handling sharps and using personal protective equipment
LO 3.4 - Explain the action to take when, using colour coded equipment, carrying out cleaning duties, storing and disposing of waste and managing spillages
LO 3.5 - Describe the chain of infection and how to implement it within the workplace.
4 Describe how to access advice and support.
LO 4.1 - Identify the infection control lead within their organisation.
LO 4.2 - Describe examples of when further advice should be obtained.
Lo 4.3 - Explain what to do if they have any concerns relating to infection control.
