We're now going to look at how to immobilise a dislocated shoulder. When a shoulder is dislocated, we want to reduce any sideways movement of the limb and put the arm into a resting position. This should be done using a sling from a standard first aid kit as demonstrated in the video.

When the arm is placed in the resting position, a second triangular bandage, is placed around the body to hold the arm in place and stop it moving outward away from the front of the body. This will help to keep the arm immobilised so they can be transported to the Emergency Medical Services.
